Christmas is coming but is it only for kids?

Well, another year older and another Christmas is looming, my first on Penang. When I was a kid, Christmas was a time of celebration, a time of excitement and that hasn't changed for the kids of today.

Adults look at Christmas these days, I feel, with a sense of foreboding. Christmas is more materialistic and seems to start earlier every year. Mid November and we see the advertisements starting to appear, the hoardings going up to let you know to shop early.

For the kids the excitement builds as each day brings them nearer to the morning of untold presents, the day of feasting and catching up with relatives. The following day, Boxing Day, is for playing with the new toys and gifts. A day in front of the TV watching Movies and sport for the Dads.

Christmas is still a very special time of year, it is just that the events change and the priorities remain the same. Christmas is a time of sharing and the kids should come first!!
